Are you disappointed with life?
The Bible Companion Book 7 helps you reconcile the realities of life with the promises of God. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scriptures without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal, group, or homeschool Bible study.
In the Books of Wisdom, God speaks to us in poetry—the language of the heart. These books reveal a God concerned not only about our minds and bodies, but also our emotions. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs bridge the gap between life as we hoped it would be and life as it is. If you struggle with your life’s circumstances, The Bible Companion Book 7 will help you find guidance, comfort, and strength in the poetry of men and women who searched for God in the dark and found Him.
Excerpt from the Book
After having the need for discernment drilled into us in Job, Psalms, and Proverbs, we expect encouragement from the Teacher’s insights. Instead, we find a disillusioned king who has pursued everything money can buy and announces that life is meaningless. His conclusion hits us hard.
Ecclesiastes is not going to offer religious clichés or pat answers for what disturbs us about our world. To some of us, this is refreshing. If we’ve lived enough to know that justice does not always prevail in this life and the godly do suffer, the book grabs our attention.
In verses 1–11, the narrator tells us that life is brief and there is nothing new under the sun. Life will go on with or without us. These sentiments are shared by the Teacher, whose first-person journal begins in verse 12.
These uncomfortable realities highlight the need to examine our lives. What makes life worth living? Can wisdom save us? If a person with all the resources in the world missed the mark, is there hope for us? God’s Word assures us life can be found. Wisdom, Jesus Christ personified, will show us the way (1 Cor. 1:30).
